Guiseppe J. Romeo

Services for Guiseppe J. Romeo, 86, of 294 West Street, who died late Wednesday in Rutland Hospital after a long illness, will be held Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in St. Peter Church. 

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Born in Siderno Marina Calabria Italy March 20,  1889, son of Antonio and Rose (Colloutti) Romeo. 

He was an employe of the Rutland Railroad for 29 years, retiring in 1956. He was a member of the Italian-American Club and St. Peter Church. 

A veteran of the Italian Army during World War I, he was a prisoner of war for three years. 

Mr. and Mrs. Romeo celebrated their 60th wedding anniversay last year. Survivors include his widow, the former Maria C. Fimognari, one daughter Mrs. Maria Zullo of Rutland; one brother Palo Romeo of Italy; two sisters, Mrs. Maria Bagettia and Mrs. Batiena Angi, both of Italy, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Clifford Funeral Home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
